Alternate letters clues

Every other letter of part of the clue makes the answer.

Alternate letter clues ask you to take the odd or even letters of a word or phrase. 'Oddly', 'regularly' and 'evenly' are the usual signals.

Example

Coast regularly produces a pet (3)

CAT: The odd letters of CoAsT ('regularly') give CAT, defined by 'pet'.
