Combination clues clues
Two or more devices, such as an anagram inside a charade, work together.
Many clues mix devices: an abbreviation plus an anagram, a reversal placed inside another word, a charade with one piece deleted. Treat each indicator separately and solve the clue one piece at a time.
Solving tips
- Underline the definition first. What's left is the wordplay; look for one indicator per device.
